This inform provides a comparative overview of the policy measures and practical approaches taken by Member States to prevent and manage the risks of third-country nationals going missing and their separation from family members, with a focus on three different scenarios: 1) when they first come into contact with authorities; 2) during transfers to one facility to another; and 3) during their stay in a Member State.

Between July 2020 and January 2021, the EMN, in collaboration with other organizations developed a series of informs on the impact of COVID-19 on migration. This inform provides an update of these impacts as of December 2020, closes earlier information gaps, summarizes and analyses the key findings across the earlier informs and identifies the main challenges and learning points in responding to the pandemic at a national level.
